Hollowreach

★★★★★ 4.7 Editor rating

Hollowreach is a quiet point-and-tap adventure set in an abandoned hilltop observatory. You wander room to room, poke at objects, and slowly piece together what happened to the people who worked there. It leans on atmosphere more than puzzles, though the few puzzles it has are clever.

The art is all hand-drawn and genuinely beautiful, with soft lighting that shifts as you move through the night. Tapping to examine things is smooth, and the game never hides exits in a way that feels unfair. I finished it in about three hours and didn't want it to end.

If you like adventure games that trust you to look and think rather than rushing you along, this is an easy recommendation. It's the sort of game I'd hand to someone who says they don't play games.
